I went through withdrawals in jail. it's really tough but I promise it will get better! just don't give up! drink lots of water, Imodium, and keep your mind occupied. color, read, watch tv, call someone. anything to keep your mind busy. praying for you!!!

It's a lot easier to STAY clean than it is to GET clean. So your detox pain will end if you can ride it out. Where are you? Have you gotten drugs and alcohol away from you? Keep remembering this is life or death...that if you pick up a drug you will either die or have to start the detox all over again. Detoxing can sometimes be dangerous so you should consider checking into a hospital if necessary.

I’ve been feeling the same. Walking, water, showering, socialising with other clean addicts at meetings and for coffees, meditating, eating good food, reading recovery material and journaling helps me. I’ve committed to doing 3 of these things everyday even just for ten minutes. Sometimes it’s like walking through deep mud. Each time I do one of these things I feel a little bit better and a little bit stronger. We can do this.

the first week was really rough for me too. I drank a lot of water, napped when it got crazy, and took a couple aspirin every 4 hours or so. My head began to clear up during the days and after that first week I was able to feel like a real human again. it does feel amazing now, with more energy, more alertness, and awareness. I feel hope again! Stick to it! it's worth it, and a courageous act of love for yourself!!!
