See Yourself Doing It First.

According to the great philosopher, Neville, the power of your imagination is even more powerful than your own will power. If you imagine yourself doing or accomplishing something before you actually try to do it, the likelihood that you will succeed is greatly enhanced. The great batter visualizes himself hitting the home run before he does it. Not only is it helpful to imagine success, but to imagine it in as specific detail as possible. If you cannot see yourself succeeding, your negative vision will permeate your attempt to succeed. This use of imagination is vital to your recovery.

To-do:

Today, see yourself as a sober person. Envision yourself dealing with life's challenges gracefully and with patience. See yourself accepting life on life's terms and handling situations with calm, honesty, purity, unselfishness, and love. If you are going to be in situations which tempt you to use, see yourself saying "no" calmly. If you are going to be around challenging people, see yourself as being free of resentment and acting the way someone who you respect in recovery would act under the same circumstances.
