Scrub the floor

"If you in your pain call birth an affliction and the support of the flesh a curse written upon your brow, then I answer that naught but the sweat of your brow shall wash away that which is written." - from the Prophet.  Scrubbing the floor is a great way to pray, meditate, and use up nervous energy. If you are fantasizing about drinking or using, scrub the floor. I was told to scrub the floor at a 12 step meeting by a CEO of a big corporation when I told him I was overwhelmed by life. He seemed like an intelligent guy and I was surprised when he told me to do what I then considered to be a stupid, mundane action. But when I tried it, I found that my anxiety melted away.

To-do:

Today I will scrub the floor, paint the wall, do the dishes, start that exercise program, or something else that will allow me to mediate and exhaust anxious energy. I will do it with love in my heart.
