Firstly I'd like to say that I'm grateful for the opportunity to be truly anonymous on this platform. It allows me to fully express myself without the concern of personalities.
I just made one year of continuous sobriety. They told me it would get better. It did get better. Today what I'm grateful for the most is the fact that I am an addict. The very same fact that I hated,denied and was ashamed of for years is what gave me the strength I have today. I can look myself in the mirror today, pat myself on the shoulder, brush through my hair and say well done mate, you did me proud. I have never been able to do this thoroughout my life. It truly the best gift recovery has brought me.
