6 days in...

created by: Jenn 5 years, 9 months ago

I’m having to take it one minute at a time today. I am 6 days without a drink and am struggling. I am fighting with myself because my addiction is saying, “Just have ONE and then you can restart tomorrow. You only have 6 days. It’ll be easy to start back tomorrow when you aren’t so stressed.” One...minute...at...a...time! I’m an evening drinker, so I know the hardest part is yet to come.

Update: I made it! It’s time for bed! Tomorrow will be one full week! I’m so proud of myself!

Hi! Yes, doing fine, just busy. Today was an easy day thankfully. I haven’t made it to an AA meeting. I’m trying to figure out how to make it work with kids and work. I do see a personal counselor though, and she is a huge help! Thanks for checking on me!

Yay. Really believe in AA. There are lots and lots of meetings at all times of the day around. You can just Google AA meetings near me. Group support is really important. you will see that you are really not alone.

My kids are triggers for me. My husband works two jobs and the kids never stop going 100 miles a minute. Their energy causes me anxiety. I feel like a horrible mother. They talk so fast, never stop moving, and are so flipping loud all the time! I have tried to get them to calm down and relax, but they just don’t understand the concept. Can you tell they are driving me nuts right now?

I know. we think families are safe places, but the truth is they are not. That's why we need to connect with people in recovery. I so pray you can get to an AA meeting. you will find a roomful of people who understand and are nonjudgmental and supportive. Please let us know if you check out a meeting. Womens meetings are especially appropriate for you.
