Thanks Jasand! Best explanation of Step 1 ever! I hope people won't get hung up over the fact that he's a Priest. This is not religious.

As I once heard "Religion is for those who are afraid of hell, spirituality is for those who have been there." I’ve been there long enought. It really has nothing to do with Religion. " I like the simple but effective way he comments on the steps. At first I did not understand in the meetings how some Catholics, atheists, agnostics, evangelicals said, "I met the High Power here at the AA meeting." Today that’s quite clear.

I want to thank you also for sharing. I started his lecture and it helped me & I am not religious. A higher power, a power bigger than self can be a group of people helping each other to paraphrase Father Martin.
