90 Meetings in 90 Days

I just wanted to talk about this topic. It is often told to a new commer to do this. First of all I am yet to find in the Big Book where it says to do this. And I try to base my sobriety on the Big Book. Now also remember that the Big Book is AA. In the early days there were no meetings. If you wanted help you were either sat down with some one and taken through the book and 12 steps or sent a copy and read it and worked through it. My 2nd point Alcohol Cunning Bafling and Powerful from BB. Now in my early days if I was told 90 meetings in 90 days guess what I may have done it. Then what. Day 91 you beauty I am going to have a drink. I don't say this lightly. Again from the BB remember what we deal with is life or death. That is it. Screw this up someone dies. Yes we are alcoholic or what your addiction is. But we need to remember it is the privileged few who ever make it in the doors and the privileged ones of those that stay sober. Guess where the others end up. A Life of misery in an alcoholic death. I don't wish to dramatise this but I was not treated with kid gloves and it got me sober and I am very very greatful that the last drink I had is almost 29 years ago. I have been through some rough times in sobriety and not found 1 reason to need a drink. Take care all
