Want what you have, don't have a lot of wants

"Wants" create stress. They take our focus off of recovery and on selfishness. "Selfishness is the root of our problem." Negative "feel bad" messages usually result from our perception that we have not, will not, or did not get what we want. We all instinctively want things to go our way. But our wants necessarily conflict with others' wants such that things don't go our way. From material wants (the biggest house) to simple daily wants (avoiding a stop light), wants frustrate us. This frustration leads to relapse. Far better to appreciate what you have and distinguish wants from needs.

To-do:

Say a mental "thank you' for three things and situations you have.
