Today I don't have to, I get to.

When I was using, I had to cover my tracks, run from authority, and suffer all the other consequences of using. Today, I get to work, have fun without booze, and all the other privileges of not using. My attitude is grateful for having a more normal life rather than needing to escape from it to use.

To-do:

Repeat the phrase, "I don't have to, I get to" especially when you are feeling overwhelmed or sorry for yourself for having responsibilities. Remember that you risk prompt, disastrous consequences if you pick up the first drink or drug after any period of sobriety. Even if the consequences don't come immediately, they will come eventually.
