Keep an even keel

When we were drinking and drugging, everything seemed either too high or too low. Life was out of balance. Our goal today is to live peacefully and not subject ourselves to extremes. Being angry or even too excited is unpleasant. It's OK to have fun and excitement, but the constant living on the edge only stresses us out and ruins our serenity.

Today, I will remember, without shame, the consequences I have experienced for getting too manic and too depressed.  Perhaps I will listen to some music. Perhaps I will meditate.  I will do whatever it takes to keep an even keel.
