We all find ourselves obsessing on mistakes and irritations. One tool to gradually lead us back to peace of mind is called “grounding.” Grounding can help when you feel like you have lost all control and can't think about anything besides a drink or a drug. Grounding can help you safely land that mental airplane that feels like it just lost an engine.
Today if something happens that makes your blood begin to boil, get grounded. First, look around you. Find 5 things you can see and name each thing to yourself. Then name everything you can hear. Then name one thing you could touch. Breath slowly, then do a task you are supposed to do.
