Once you can't safely pick up the first drink, drug, cigarette, etc., you can't ever safely pick up the first one again - even if you feel like you have solved all of your problems or you are cured. Like diabetes, addiction is chronic (incurable) although it can be arrested depending on daily recovery technique implementation. Unfortunately, it even gets worse when we are not using. If we pick up a drug ten years after our last use, we will be as addicted as if we had been using during those ten years.
Don't pick up the first drink or drug. Repeat to yourself that you can't change back to a "normal" drinker or addict.
